Matthias Naeschke (born in 1943) is a trained clockmaker, clock technician and church musician. After working for leading Swiss and English clockmakers and completing a degree in engineering, he developed mechanical clockworks for industrial companies. At that time, artisanal clock production had almost died out – a situation that Naeschke was determined to change with his passion and innovative spirit. In 1984, he began with a small series of just ten flute clocks in order to revive a craft that had been forgotten for over 150 years.
