Table clocks
Table clocks are specially designed to stand on a table, desk, shelf or other flat surface. They not only serve to display the time, but are also a decorative home accessory that enhances the interior design. Historically, analog table clocks were a sign of status and craftsmanship, with elaborate decorations and made from high-quality materials.
For centuries, console clocks, mantel clocks and bracket clocks have been an integral part of upscale, tasteful interiors. The external design depended on the style of the period and the intended use, with either decorative or functional aspects dominating. In the Renaissance, table clocks were characterized by numerous calendar and other astronomical indications in addition to the hands for hours and minutes. Cosmopolitan art lovers used them to impressively demonstrate their interest in the progress of science.
