Description

NT 2

The NT 2 table clock from Matthias Naeschke were designed and built for people who are in contact with the world for both business and pleasure. We have bundled all the complications and displays for international communication in the NT 2, also known as the business clock. The movement combines a perpetual calendar, a calendar week display and a world time display. With the latter, the problem of time differences within the time zones has arisen since the introduction of summer time. In our company, this problem has been solved by color-coding the world cities with or without daylight saving time.

Second dial as a special feature

Another special feature of the NT 2 table clock is an additional dial on the back of the clock. It shows the hours in 24 divisions. The hour hand on this dial can be adjusted by the hour and can therefore be set to any time zone. We have designed a rotating case so that this table clock can be turned quickly from one dial view to another. The heavy granite base is mounted on a solid turntable with ball bearings. It floats almost invisibly 2 mm above the table, making the clock very easy to turn.

Movement as a technical showpiece

The finely finished and gold-plated movement of the NT 2 is a technical showpiece. With nine weeks without a winding mechanism, it is a long runner. Three solid plates form the frame. The barrel and fusee run at the drive level. The rest of the gear train, the escapement with Swiss lever escapement and parts of the perpetual calendar are located on a second level. An integrated expiry indicator in a window indicates when the clock needs to be rewound.

The dials of the NT 2 are a successful interplay of shapes, materials and colors. Cuts, diamond facets and polishes alternate. The dials and displays are printed in more than 20 individual steps. Blued and partly gold-plated pear-shaped hands glide over the individual displays and complete the face of the NT 2 table clock.

Despite its complexity, this clock does not appear overloaded. It harmoniously combines classic clockmaking with modern design. A timepiece of the very highest quality, crafted by hand without compromise.
