The “Three Train Skeleton Clock” table clock from Sinclair Harding presented here is the result of several months of painstaking manual work. The individual plates are first cut out of solid brass, then the edges are filed and smoothed with paper. The next step is electroplating before the plates are finally installed in the finished skeleton clock. The wheels, axles, locking mechanisms and levers are finished by hand to give the entire mechanism the sheen of a work of art.
The 8-day movement is driven by three mainsprings, each of which exerts an almost constant torque on the gear train via a fusee and a chain. The gear train is controlled by a ½-second deadbeat escapement and an Invar pendulum rod, with the pendulum visible beneath the plates. This results in a high standard of timekeeping which, in combination with the seconds dial, creates an additional movement that enhances the already fascinating spectacle.
The escape pallet is made of high-carbon steel with through-hardened, diamond-polished surfaces, ensuring high resistance and a long service life. The ringing mechanism is equipped with a drum and a hammer, the settings of which allow melodies to be played on an octave of hand-tuned bells. When ordering, you can choose between the Westminster or a selection of Whittington and St. Michael bells. The strike train is responsible for the hour display on a ninth tenor bell. The levers and racks that control the aforementioned functions are manufactured to the same meticulous standard.
The movement from Sinclair Harding is mounted on a base made of decorative brass plates, with a choice of wood or marble between them. The beveled glass shade with opening door ensures that the entire clock is protected from dust and at the same time provides an optimal view of the table clock “Three Train Skeleton Clock”.
