The stunning Comitti ‘Navigator’ clock is closely modeled on the first reliable marine chronometer developed by the world-famous clockmaker John Harrison (1693-1776). Harrison’s famous ‘grasshopper’ escapement enabled seafarers to calculate longitude for the first time and thus determine their position on the map more precisely.
The table clock “The Navigator” (GD/NB) from Comitti London is handcrafted from solid brass and plated with 24 carat gold. The silver-plated dial features Roman and Arabic numerals and is complemented by elegant Breguet hands. There is even a pretty seconds display with hands above the dial. The mechanism stands on a walnut base with burl wood veneer and an integrated key drawer and is protected by a shiny crystal glass cover. Each Navigator clock comes with a piece of the book “Longitude” by Dava Sobel, which tells the amazing story of John Harrison’s struggle to create his amazing clock.
