Description

NT 9

The beauty is in the detail

The NT 9 table clock from Matthias Naeschke is a 14-day timepiece that impresses with its simple elegance. The visual highlight is the elaborate dial, which has been produced in countless steps. Here we have implemented the maximum of what is technically feasible and created a small masterpiece that is almost unsurpassable in its wealth of detail.

The matt blasted and gold-plated base leaf is surrounded by a polished rim made up of four individual segments. Hand engravings in the form of a diamond pattern with flower engravings at the respective intersections refract the light differently depending on the angle of view, giving the leaf its incomparable depth.

The center of the dials for the date and time display are each engine-turned by hand with a ray pattern and Breguet threads, also engine-turned, border the minute track. The dials are completed by the finest hand-engraved numerals, the Matthias Naeschke lettering and the hour markers. They are given their final, matt silver sheen by the very old process of granular silver-plating. This ensures that the dial is perfectly legible even from a distance.

High accuracy guaranteed

A highly polished cherry wood case with two facetted glasses on the sides reveals the perfectly finished and gold-plated movement that forms the drive of this clock. An extremely fine gear train runs between trapezoidal plates in no less than 14 bearing and functional jewels, transmitting the spring force to an escapement with a Swiss lever escapement and screw balance. With 14,400 vibrations per hour, it sets the pace and ensures the accuracy of this timepiece.

In addition to the time, the most important function of daily use – the date – is displayed in the same size. The winding mechanism and setting of the NT 9 table clock is done through small openings in the back wall. A drawer in the case provides space for the winding key. Thanks to the closed and solid construction of the case, virtually no noise is transmitted to the outside. With its compact dimensions of 16.5 x 11 x 24.5 cm (W x D x H), this clock is ideal for placing on desks, sideboards or other small pieces of furniture.
