Description

NT 8

Our manufactory shows its colors

The NT 8 table clock from Matthias Naeschke in the form of a classic weekly runner sets radiant, rose gold accents. It catches the eye not only because of its unusual color, but above all because of its numerous technical and handcrafted refinements. The small running width of the wheels between the plates of just 21 mm is particularly noteworthy.

This makes the NT 8 one of the flattest skeleton clocks ever. This was made possible by an ingenious three-part barrel construction in which a very narrow mainspring runs directly in a cut-out in the large drive wheel. If you look at the movement from the side, you might think it has no barrel at all.

The finest mechanics shine in rose gold

The escapement of the movement dominates the upper part of the movement with the large gear wheel typical of Naeschke and the circular ruby pallets. Delicate, hand-sawed and blued hands glide over a sterling silver chapter ring engraved by hand. Two precision ball bearings and four large ruby jewels on the remaining gear train ensure optimum power transmission and friction reduction. A 5-rod compensation pendulum swings behind the movement and sets the beat in half-second increments. Rose gold is used as the galvanic coating for this table clock. This shade harmonizes perfectly with the silver of the dial and columns.

Successful composition of form and material

For the case design, we rely on classic processes and craftsmanship in the form of a hand-blown glass case, which is specially made for this clock in a renowned glassworks. This not only protects the movement from dust and environmental influences, but also enhances the filigree appearance of this elegant timepiece.

The unusually shaped base of the NT 8 table clock from Matthias Naeschke is made of walnut wood with silver metal inlays. The color of the walnut wood is not changed by staining. Instead, a colorless lacquer polished to a high gloss is applied to protect the wood. This brings out the natural color of the wood even better and forms a very successful unit with the rose gold of the movement. The winding key is stored in a small drawer in the base and is ready to hand when the future owner performs the weekly ritual of winding the watch.
