The NT 8 GT (SW) table clock from Matthias Naeschke impressively proves that classic mechanics is an extremely exciting, almost limitless, subject area. When developing the movement of this weekly runner, we took a completely new approach. The result is an exciting mix of modern design, new materials and a wide variety of colors. Thoughtful associations with automotive and lightweight construction in aviation have been incorporated into the design and characterize the movement in many details.
The entire movement with dial and compensation pendulum weighs just 1.5 kg. The openwork plates of the movement, for example, which are reminiscent of the filigree skeleton of an airplane wing, literally do not weigh a gram too much. They are made of an aluminum alloy and are only reinforced where it is technically absolutely necessary. The movement frame with its five solid pillars is held together by nine distinctive, polished hexagonal nuts instead of screws.
The look of the wheels opens up completely new perspectives. With their modern design legs, the wheels are based on the filigree aluminum rims of exclusive sports cars. Conventional sprockets made of polished brass are bolted to the aluminum spoke segments. These segments are in turn deeply dish-shaped, giving the wheels a striking visual effect. A look at the side of the movement of the NT 8 GT (SW) is therefore particularly attractive.
MODERN DESIGN MEETS CLASSIC CLOCKMAKING
We have also taken an unconventional approach to the design of the skeletonized chapter ring. Instead of a ring printed with numbers and a minute scale, the time on this table clock is recorded geometrically. Each of the four minutes between two 5-minute increments has its own small step. The tip of the minute hand runs through these individual steps and the time can therefore be read very precisely.
The case of this timepiece combines traditional glass-blowing art with aluminum. The base with its three circumferential milled grooves is inspired by the cylinder head of a classic combustion engine with its distinctive cooling fins. Instead of the cylinder head screws, there are four small cranks at its flared corners. These are used for fine adjustment of the clock on its base and are also decorative elements.
REFINED SURFACES CREATE EXCITING CONTRASTS
The satin-finished surfaces of the glass-bead blasted aluminum and the highly polished surfaces of the brass parts of the NT 8 (SW) table clock create a beautiful contrast and create a wonderful tension. Thanks to the use of aluminium and the possibility of anodizing, there is a whole range of colors to choose from. Depending on customer requirements, the brass parts can be electroplated in yellow gold, rose gold or rhodium. Make your choice!
We offer a wide range of customization options. The brass parts can be finished in yellow gold, rhodium or rose gold. Various anodized colors are available for the aluminium parts.
