Description
NT 10
Monthly runner with a maritime look
The classic, hand-blown glass camber, also known as a glass dome, is popular with collectors and museums today as a stylish way of displaying particularly fine and valuable objects in a way that is visible from all sides. We were particularly interested in combining the ancient craftsmanship of glassblowing with our style of handcrafted clockmaking and transporting it into the present day. The result is the NT 10 table clock from Matthias Naeschke, the second clock model in our collection with a glass dome.
When designing the base of the housing, we were inspired by ship floors and hulls. A 6 mm thick, polished and gold-plated brass plate with perforations and four adjusting screws for level compensation forms the base. The plinth made of finely grained Sapeli precious wood sits on top of this. With its concave profile, it is reminiscent of the hull of a ship. All-round thin strips of maple also emphasize the maritime look.
The finest finishes guarantee a glamorous appearance
Both the radiant yellow gold and the silver accents of the movement blend harmoniously into the color spectrum of the wood. It rests on four classic pillars above the wooden base and displays the time on a hand-engraved sterling silver chapter ring. All wheels in the power train are mounted either in precision ball bearings or in ruby.
SKELETON CLOCK WITH A RUNNING TIME OF 1 MONTH
The running time of one month is unusual for a skeleton clock of this size. The power for this long running time is provided by a barrel embedded in the wooden base. It transmits its energy to a fusee via a very flexible stainless steel cable that is only 1 mm thick. Thanks to its precision-calculated shape, the fusee has the task of compensating for the diminishing spring forces and the resulting differences in torque between fully wound and unwound clocks.
The table clock NT 10 from Matthias Naeschke is driven by our proven half-second compensation pendulum with regulation via the pendulum lens. Due to its monthly running time, this clock requires little attention. Its transparency creates a pleasant sense of lightness. The fascinating mechanism, which is visible through and through, attracts everyone’s attention. It completes an existing living ambience and is a functional accessory at the same time.
