The NT 1 (GG) table clock from Matthias Naeschke weighs almost 50 kilograms and is comparable to a monument. A 100-day gold-plated movement sits majestically enthroned on four mighty solid brass columns. The drive is provided by a mainspring barrel and fusee – a method that is rarely found any more, in order to transfer diminishing tension spring forces to a gear train in a balanced manner.
The gearing of this table clock consists of a few excellently crafted wheels and pinions. They transmit the driving force to the escapement and hands with great efficiency. Wonderful for connoisseurs and lovers of mechanics to fathom the functional processes of the movement. The escapement is the typical Naeschke “drop escapement” with ruby pallets. The movement is completed with a 5-rod compensation pendulum and a fine adjustment.
EACH DIAL IS UNIQUE
Elegant, blued steel hands run over a sterling silver chapter ring. Filigree numbers and lettering are carefully cut out by hand, stroke by stroke, making each dial a truly unique piece. Black, elaborately polished and tarnish-protected, our clockmakers at Matthias Naeschke finally screw it to the four pillars provided.
A glass lintel with bevelled crystals and front door protects the clock from dirt. Two 6 cm thick slabs of Galactica granite form the base of the valuable movement. The raw material has a truly rocky path from the rock to the finished base. Sawn, cut into shape and finally polished in a time-consuming process, the stone reveals its full beauty and shimmering structure in our exclusive timepieces.
