Description

“His” Sea Clocks

The sea clock series is inspired by the great John Harrison in this case the table clock “His Sea Clock” from Sinclair Harding. Each clock incorporates at least three of the basic principles of Harrison’s first sea clocks.

Perhaps his most famous invention is the unique escapement that gave the clock its popular name “The Grasshopper”. The subtle and almost silent locking and unlocking of the escapement pallets enables operation without oil (and therefore without the effects of viscosity fluctuations). At the same time, it is fascinating to look at.

The Invar pendulums are connected at the back so that the table clock “His Sea Clock” can also function off the horizontal. Their gentle movement gives each clock the tranquillity of an earlier, quieter time.

The standard clock is available in two versions, named “His” and “Hers”. As with all clocks from Sinclair Harding, there is a choice of finishes and base materials to make the clock a very personalized piece.
