Description

Great Wheel Skeleton Clock

The outstanding craftsmanship that characterized French clockmakers of the late 18th century culminates in this beautiful table clock “Great Wheel Skeleton Clock” from Sinclair Harding. The simple, understated elegance of this clock emphasizes the obvious artistry of the fine gear train with its filigree crossings and high number of teeth.

Made from solid brass, the openwork frames are gracefully bevelled, polished and burnished to give the four-wheeled gear train a gleaming finish. The large wheel has 288 teeth and completes just one revolution per day. It drives the middle wheel, whose diameter is slightly larger than that of the bezel. As a result, the silver-plated dial is framed by it when viewed from the front.

The escapement is a “Graham Deadbeat” escapement controlled by a “silk” suspension pendulum. Please note that a weekly adjustment of the table clock “Great Wheel Skeleton Clock” is required.

The movement is mounted on a slim base made of white marble or granite of the customer’s choice and is protected by a beveled glass shade with an opening door at the front.

Sinclair Harding offers two models:

  • a variant of the classic French skeleton clock with a Y-shaped frame
  • and an arched frame in which the graceful curves of the frame legs are engraved with a simple but elegant pattern.
