A clock from our company Matthias Naeschke is always a technical and aesthetic highlight. The NL 126 GG grandfather clock has a majestic appearance.
The last decade of the late 18th century was the time of the Empire. France was home to gifted clockmakers such as Breguet, Berthoud and Janvier, to name just a few of the famous masters. During this period, they created extraordinary and complicated precision clocks that today adorn the best clock collections and most important museums in the world. Typical of the Empire were the clean lines of the cases and lavish ornamentation with bright fire gilding. Mahogany was often chosen as the case material.
We have designed this version of the grandfather clock NL 126 GG based on the style of the Empire and traditional clocks. The design of the case picks up on the elements of French clocks and transports them into the present day in a reduced form. With a back panel made of beautifully grained pyramid mahogany and colored in the typical red-brown of the era, this grandfather clock radiates warmth and security.
The gleaming yellow gold movement of the NL 126 GG grandfather clock is something very special. It is an annual movement with a 1 ¼ second pendulum. The 1.77 meter long pendulum swings quietly and with an unobtrusive tick. The mass moment of inertia of this heavy pendulum of a remarkable 8.54 kgm2 – which is crucial for accuracy – is unique in combination with an annual rotor.
Of course, a grandfather clock like this needs a prominent place. It completes existing interiors and is a functional home accessory in equal measure. If you give it the best place in the room, it becomes the focal point and an expression of personal style.
If desired, a light strip in the housing head can be switched on at dusk, which additionally highlights the mechanism and bathes it in warm light.
